I guess people could argue that an elite mission is just how it sounds - elite, and not even meant for the casual player. I don't know if this is what A-Net has in mind, though.

Banned? They must have been rather . . . vociferous in their efforts!
Mad5Scout, I've been there with you when you first posted, the 2nd post and now your vendication. Amazing how the world changes. LB points help + a good set of builds. So far, only four or five classes have made it through some of those zones. The rest of us will just have to keep plugging.

ANet have long since proved they no longer care about "no grind".
Yesterday, they put a death sentence on that "policy".
25 of each gemstone for the Tormented weapons!?!?!
GW is starting to look more and more like WoW!

Ever think they are doing that on Propose
WoW is getting Arena matches and other GW-type things in January, Anet might see this as a threat and wants to compete more with their structure.
This isn't a WoW vs GW discussion mind you. But there is obviously the fight for members between the two games.

Gaze can help.
But having R8 alone will have absolutely zero impact on the fact that you'll wipe in first 15 seconds if your group isn't prepared.
So in many ways, DoA is good, since it cannot be wiped clean by a gimmick 8-R8-gaze groups.

The Guild Wars policy of 'no grind' means 'no grind required'. Tormented weapons are not a requirement, they have the same stats as collector items.
High-end PvE rewards are in place for those who choose to grind. GW is far from being empty of grind activities, but they are mainly not neccessary.

Suppose I work 1 8-hour day at MacDonalds/Burger King. Money is dumped on my bankaccount for the hard-work I did. I buy 1000 plat on Ebay. I buy Ectos and Shards. I craft FoW armor.
Yes... FoW armor is grinding.

A Ritualist hero is arguably a requirement, inasmuch as anything in the game is "required".

How can having rare skin weapons be a requirement? You can get lesser rare skinned collectors weapons with the same stats...

I would like to say a few things about this new area and its associated things.
I also point out that I have said a few things about LB Rank in other threads.
1/ this new area has created a tremendous rank discrimination posture by stupid people who think that one has to have a high rank in LB. In other words, DoA is, if it has not become already, is the PVE equivalent of Heroes Ascent - a very sad day for PVE when this happenned. I personaly have witnessed some players already calling people noobs just because they do not have a rank in lb that does not please them. So, by deduction, and as is the same in HA, those high ranked players consider themselves God in this new area. Well shame on them all and as they say if the cap fits wear it.
2/ Countless hours of fighting mobs. I think that this may not appeal to many players in having to spend firstly a large amount of time to get into a group unless you have guild teams etc and then get into the area and if someone makes an error, or your team gets either too much dps too continue (not evryone has candy canes) people leave (error 7s or simply have to go) or simply get pawned, so you have to start all over again.
As a side note to this point, one has to keep in mind The deep and Urgoz Warren. In my own experience not everybody has liked these area, but this is just my assesement and I don't have any statistics to prove this, but I am sure that this may be the case.
3/ Items and drops: OMG! the skins stats may be great. Even though this has been mentioned before, their stats are not superior to other ones you can find in the other areas of the game are they? If so, are they worth it to spend countless hours in this environment to obtain them?
Gems. High number required for the various items available. Come on ANET and has been mentioned before lets just hope this is not the thin edge of the wedge to become a WOW. WOW sucks big big time and most of us know and if this becomes that, many people will loose interest in this game I think.
4/ Lightbringer status: Stating the obvious, I think a great negative thing is that for each of your chars you have to build this up. I think that this is a great deterrent for many to have to do the lb point aquisition for each of your chars, so why the requirement of having to finish the game to access the area. ANET should amend this requirement and say finish the game and have a good LB rank. What I mean by this is that say for example you finished the game with your dervish with a rank2 lb. You go to the new area and you spend a few hours in the first instance getting into a group if you can and then in the second instance in the area itself and then think to yourself "I could try this with my ..... char with a better lb rank" so back you go and have to 'farm LB points' at 2 points per monster you kill or a few 400lb points hardish quests.
Perhaps ANET should have thought this one out more carefully and made the lb rank for account and not per chars. As to the lightbringer skills for each char, a quest for each skill (4 different quests) in accordance to your account's rank in lightbringer to avoid 'over powering'.
To be honest, although I will get my 8 chars through the game (3 already through) it certainly does not appeal to me to have to do countless hours of LB farming, which gets boring after a while, for each and every char just to be able to qualify for acceptance into a group when your mates are unavailable. I prefer a good fow or uw trip or simply helping out guildies or mates than this.
.................................................. ..................................................
To conclude this, there will be many people that will disagree with me entirely for whatever reason that they can concieve other may agree with me (duh) so I welcome comments either way.
All for now ........

Yes, all the threads and chat about people WITH LB, still getting wiped.
So in essance its not going to save a rubbish group and wont be that essential, which is what you were trying to say.
So, you lose.

Uh, what? I tacitly agreed with Avarre that specific skins weren't "required" - I was making the point that there is something with unique gameplay effects that forces you to play the Domain of Anguish: getting access to a hero with Ritualist as his primary class.
Edit: Oh, and I agree with aron's clumsily but poignantly delivered point.
